“●Scott Evans has been named as the new chief investment officer for New York City Pension Funds, which together manage $150bn. Mr Evans retired in 2012 from TIAA-CREF, the asset management group, where he held various positions, including CIO.
●HSBC Global Asset Management has appointed Pedro Bastos as chief executive officer in Hong Kong and regional head of Asia-Pacific. Mr Bastos, who joined HSBC in 2006, is currently chief executive for HSBC GAM in Brazil and Latin America regional head. He succeeds Joanna Munro, who will become global head of fiduciary governance.
●Peter Schwicht is stepping down in October from his role as chief executive for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at JPMorgan Asset Management. He will be replaced by David Brigstocke, chief administrative officer for JPMorgan AM.
●Sir David Arculus, a director at Pearson and a former group managing director at Emap, has been appointed chairman of Hassium Asset Management, the wealth management boutique.
●Bartosz Pawlolski, previously global head of emerging market strategy at BNP Paribas, has joined Finisterre Capital, the emerging markets specialist, as a portfolio manager for its sovereign debt fund.
●Carmignac has appointed Michael Schütt as country head for Germany and Austria, replacing Kai Volkmann who is leaving the company. Mr Schütt will start in September after moving from BNY Mellon where he was head of wholesale for Germany. Roland Schmidt is joining as head of wholesale business development for Germany and Austria, from M&G, while Frank Rüttenauer has been promoted to head of retail business development for Germany.
●Natixis Global Asset Management is expanding its UK team. Scott MacLean joins from Castle Trust, having spent 10 years at Standard Life. Harriet Chatfield has moved from GAM to take on a sales support role. Gerry Burke and Mike Schnackenberg are moving to the UK team from sales roles with NGAM in the US.
●Allianz Global Investors has appointed Mark Guirey as director of UK institutional business development. Mr Guirey spent 13 years in the UK institutional business, most recently as sales director.
●Prestige Asset Management, the UK-based fund administration and marketing boutique, has appointed Doni Liu as its new head of sales in Shanghai at its affiliate Prestige Asset Distribution. Mr Liu previously worked as the business development director for GaoFu Wealth Management in China.
●Paul Kraft, a partner with Deloitte & Touche, is to become leader of Deloitte’s mutual fund practice, succeeding Elizabeth Krentzman who is retiring this summer.
