Week 27 October 2014: People On the Move – Asset Management

” Capital Group, the $1.4tn US asset manager, has hired Katja Wiechers (pictured) as a business development manager in Zurich as part of its expansion into Europe. Ms Wiechers joins from Carmignac where she was business development manager for the Swiss-German wholesale market.

 Hilmar Schaumann has moved to Brevan Howard, the world’s third-largest hedge fund manager, as chief risk officer from Fortress Investment, a rival hedge fund.

 Thomas Richter, chief executive of BVI, the German investment funds association, has been appointed deputy chairman of the International Investment Funds Association following the IIFA’s annual meeting in Australia.

Four hires for Legal & General Investment Management America, the $47bn Chicago-based investment advisory arm of LGIM. Matthew Cohen has joined LGIMA as LDI portfolio manager from Barclays Capital while Shawn Fan has been hired as a senior quantitative analyst from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Jeff Eberhardt has been appointed as a senior client-relationship manager after moving from Ansley Capital, the investment bank. Ciaran Carr will also transfer in February as a solutions strategist from LGIM in London.

 Castle Harbour, a London and Bermuda-based boutique, has hired Damien Regnier to co-manage a new global convertible bond fund that will be launched later this year. Mr Regnier ran one of the world’s largest convertible bond funds at Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management until his departure in September.

 Loomis Sayles, the $223bn US asset manager, has appointed Michael Chang as director of institutional services for Asia. Mr Chang has joined from Natixis Global Asset Management, the parent company of Loomis Sayles.

 Marcus Perschke has joined Baring Asset Management as a senior key account manager in Germany, from LGT Capital Management where he was head of distribution for Germany and Austria.

 Source, the $18bn London-based exchange traded products provider, has appointed Paul Jackson as head of its newly created multi-asset research department. Mr Jackson joins from Société Générale where he worked as a multi-asset sales specialist, equity strategist and head of research.

 Palamon Capital, the €1.3bn private equity partnership, has hired Alexandre (Ali) Rahmatollahi as an associate partner and Christian Beck as a member of the board of advisers. Mr Rahmatollahi joins from Morgan Stanley while Mr Beck is currently chairman of Eneas, the Norwegian energy group. Palamon acquired a majority stake in Eneas in 2010.

Chris Ashford has joined Aerium, the European real estate fund manager, as head of human resources from Deutsche Pfandbriefbank.

 Rod Sampson has moved to Coutts, the private bank and wealth management arm of Royal Bank of Scotland, as executive director of relationship management. Mr Sampson, who joins from Barclays Wealth, will be based in Dubai to cover the UAE and Oman.

 BNP Paribas Investment Partners has hired Guy Davies as director of equities for its institutional business line. He joins from FundQuest Advisor.”source: ft.com
